The good thing about Windows 98 is that after paying $100, you get about 1 MB worth of new programs, utilities and around 100MB of useless system files, .DLLs and so many .INFs that no wonder they had to invent FAT 32. Below are just some of the new programs within the Windows 98 package:

IE 4.01 : Now we know why Reno is so pissed off. BTW, its free for download.

FAT 16 > 32 converter : If this baby crashes, theres going to be even more lawsuits against Microsoft. It claims to be able to save 150 MB off my 2GB (1.5 GB used) HDD. BTW, there are freeware converters available (fortunately without any mention of Bill Gates).

ACPI power management : If only I had ACPI power management. I could spend all day playing with it (not).

Host of new / rehashed programs : Paintbrush, Media player, Active Movie, system utilites, all gets a new icon or something. BTW, I could change icons my self too. In fact, why don't I and then charge $100 for it :-), and then start my monopoly on the OS market. HA HA HA HA, (cough, cough).

So now you know what's new program wise, I am sure some of you will still go out and buy it (I know I will, wait a sec ....  let me think about it .... yep, still buying it. I'm a sucker for these things.).
